Speaker : Dr. Mary O'Kane

Self esteem is an innoculation against the challenges of life and can be defined as feeling both capable and loved.  Children with strong self-esteem tend to enjoy interacting socially, enjoy group activities and feel confident to face the world.  When faced with challenges they can work towards developing solutions.

In this talk, Dr. Mary O'Kane will give parents practical advice on how to support children's self esteem, confidence and resilience.

Dr. Mary O'Kane is a Lecturer in Psychology, Early Childhood Studies and Education.  Her research interests include childhood transition; self-esteem and well-being and the value of play.
